Staff at a Scottish School for pupils with severe learning difficulties
decided to move towards an intensive interactive teaching approach,
based on research into normal mother-infant interaction. An evaluation
used videotape analysis to measure the progress of six pupils over one
school year. Results were encouraging. Illustrations are given of
developments in individual pupils and of staff views concerning the
value of the interactive teaching approach.
