On the occasion of the 12th International Foamed Plastics Symposium ‘50 Years of Foamed Plastics’, held in Dusseldorf, on 25–26 May, 1983, Professor Heinz Baumann presented a personal narrative which contained many points of historical interest.
The following extracts from his talk illustrate some of the problems met by various researchers in the early stages of developing products in the Cellular Polymer field.
Professor Baumann's own contribution to the development and establishing of UF foams in many applications is well known. His views on the necessity to examine dispassionately the industrial experience in the use of UF foams over many years should be studied carefully.
