Abstract
Jet venturi ventilation is frequently used in the airway management during microlaryngeal surgery. We have studied the relationships between the ventilating injector system and the lungs and outflow tract in a mechanical model. We found that tidal volume is directly proportional to system driving pressure, injector diameter, and lung compliance, and inversely proportional to airway resistance and outflow tract area.
