Abstract
Program Description:
Globus pharyngeus is a sensory abnormality of the throat affecting 4-6% of the population. To date, the etiology of globus still remains poorly elucidated although many theories have evolved. There is no consensus regarding the diagnosis and management for these patients. This miniseminar is intended to concisely: 1) Review all of the key elements of evaluation, examination, diagnosis, and management of patients with globus; 2) Evaluate all possible etiologies for globus sensation; 3) Summarize the literature supporting or refuting all diagnostic modalities for patients with globus; 4) Discuss a practical management algorithm for treatment of patients with globus.
Educational Objectives:
1) Acquire practical tools for assessment and diagnosis of patients with globus. 2) Consider all potentially beneficial diagnostic options of patients with globus. 3) Survey current clinical practice methods for management of patients with globus.
