Abstract
Spontaneous hyperplastic and inflammatory lesions were found in the bladders and kidneys of female rats and their offspring being observed as part of a reproduction study.
Bladder lesions consisted of hyperplasia of the mucosal epithelium, mucosal erosion and ulceration, and infiltration of the bladder mucosa with polymorpho-nuclear neutrophils.
Kidney lesions included dilation of the renal pelvis, hyperplasia of the pelvic epithelium and inflammation of the renal pelvis (pyelitis).
The incidence of these lesions is presented. Spontaneous lesions of this type may affect the interpretation of chemically-induced changes in these organs.
