Four types of materials are described which were designed to promote the social/emotional learning skills of hearing-impaired children. The materials were used in conjunction with viewing captioned television programs but are amenable for use with other type of media as well. All the materials were tested with 80 hearing-impaired students from five schools for the deaf around the country. Specific techniques are described and implications for classroom use are discussed.
