Abstract
In many sectors of the process industries, advanced control and closed-loop optimisation is recognised as a mechanism for improving competitiveness. Projects are common with payback times of less than 1 year. For many companies the range of technologies is bewildering. This can be overcome by use of a reputable and experienced consultant. Increaslingly, the large control systems companies are providing these services and technologies. For many operating companies this will be the best path for ensuring they achieve the benefits they expect over the lifetime of a project.
