Abstract
Governors on distribution networks sometimes exhibit unstable operating characteristics which affect their operation adversely. In order to solve this problem it was necessary first to investigate pressure-regulator behaviour under various operating conditions and to highlight stability criteria. It was then possible to lay down selection criteria as well as to make installation and adjustment recommendations.
This study has made it possible to validate and to organise a comprehensive set of experimental data and is expected to help operators who face this type of difficulty with pressure regulators. Last, but not least, the study will have a major impact on governor-qualification testing which is mandatory for installation.
