Abstract
This "News and Notes" section will be flexible and largely dependent upon readers' contributions and suggestions. It will seek to be responsive to the needs of the "community" of urban historians and urbanists. At the present time the section will serve to inform about upcoming conferences and meetings of interest to urban historians, new programs, grant possibilities, and the like. By listing conferences, and, where possible, their sessions of special interest, we hope to generate a more genuine level of communication between North American urban historians and those working and teaching abroad. To this end, we urge the readership of the journal to supply material for inclusion in what we hope will be a vibrant addition to the journal and a relevant one as well. Send information to Mark B.
