Abstract
Ground rubber tire (GRT) powder is devulcanized using a counter-rotating twin screw extruder and then the product is mixed with 30 phr virgin natural rubber (NR) and HAF carbon black added in various proportions. The data obtained from a cure rheometer is used to fit in a four-parameter logistic model to correlate the variation of torque with time. The mechanical properties were evaluated, which suggested that optimum properties are obtained with a 15 phr HAF addition. The effects of a sulfur/accelerator (S/CBS) ratio study reveals that satisfactory properties are obtained at a S/CBS ratio of 1.5/0.75.
