It is high time to start a process for improving the work of ethics committees related to drug trials. The current system, which is actually a variety of systems in different countries, needs improvement in the 10 specific areas discussed in this paper. The Danish system is presented as an example of an effective model of an ethics committee system and drug agency working together.
