Abstract
This paper begins with an historical overview of good clinical practice (GCP) and then discusses its current status. Initiatives of the World Health Organization and the International Conference on Harmonization to harmonize the various national/regional guidelines are covered. Future efforts regarding GCP and lessons learned from GCP are also discussed.
