Abstract
Phytomedicines play an important role in Germany, accounting for approximately 10% of the total drug market. This makes Germany the largest market for phytomedicines within the EC. This paper presents an overview of the German Society for Phytotherapy as well as German drug laws and those applicable to phytomedicines. The system for reviewing phytomedicines set up by Commission E is also discussed.
