Abstract
By Spanish law, phytomedicines are considered medicines and must be registered with the government. This paper describes the classification of phytomedicines in Spain, including differences between medicines and medicinal substances. It details how Spain's view of phytomedicines fits in with European Community definitions and directives, and with the future marketing authorization system.
