Abstract
The process of producing annotated bibliographies in the Scientific Information Services Department was studied. Results showed similarities between bibliography development and database development. The methodology utilized to identify software for the development of bibliographies and/or databases is described. Software investigated (SCI-MATE, PRO-CITE, NOTEBOOK II, REFERENCE MANAGER, DBASEIV, RBASE V.2.1, FOXBASE + V.20, ADVANCE REVELATION V.2.0) are reviewed. PRO-CITE was found to be the most effective. Because of unique features of this software, it is postulated that availability of PRO-CITE to Roche personnel will facilitate the utilization of published information and expedite many aspects of new drug development.
