Abstract
Objectives: Provide an example to assist other organizations in establishing a unique 1- or 2-year postgraduate residency program in drug information.
Development: The primary goal of the residency is to provide a directed, postdoctoral program in the specialty areas of drug information while developing competency in the operation and management of academic, industry, and hospital drug information services.
Design: Residents are placed in either a 1-year postdoctoral residency with collaborative training from a college of pharmacy, a pharmaceutical industry–based medical information firm, a children's research hospital, or a 2-year residency, which includes a master's degree in health outcomes and policy research.
Conclusion: The creation of a 1- or 2-year postgraduate residency divided between three branches of pharmacy practice is a dynamic alternative to provide more complete drug information and health outcomes research experience.
