Abstract
The Drug Information Analysis Service of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California School of Pharmacy and the Medical Information Department of Genentech, Inc. developed a combined drug information residency. The Drug Information Analysis Service is an academic drug information service that educates and trains pharmacy students and residents and supports a medical center campus. The Medical Information Department of Genentech is a rapidly expanding department that supports health care professionals and consumers using Genentech products. The second year of the combined residency has been completed and three residents have graduated. While the environments and daily operations are different for each site, the goals and objectives of the combined residency program are the same. The relationship established between the two organizations has proven beneficial in numerous direct and indirect ways.
