Abstract
People may see the pain, suffering, and injustices in the built environment before thinking of joy in the city. There are many ways of responding to the challenges facing global cities including creating rhythms and spaces of joy, identifying sources of joy, practicing kinship and mutuality as well as sharing and building joy.
