Select works of seven major pioneers in the psychology of religion are examined comparatively. Their studies inductively approached the phenomena of religion in individual experience, thus ascertaining with some sense of prediction the laws operating in religious growth. It is evident that these works set the stage at the turn of the century for the development of the field.
