Surface topography of nylon 6 filaments subjected to drawing and swelling treatments was studied. SEM photomicrographs showed that the surface became smooth in the case of samples drawn as well as treated with swelling agents. This has been explained as due to the increased lateral order and perfection of lamellar crystals and also supported by x-ray studies.
