Effect of nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide in presence and absence of air, ozone, and near-uv radiation has been discussed. Random chain scission and crosslinks with respective groups take place and small molecular weight compounds are evolved. Degradation is sensitive to polymer and crystallinity, size, and size distribution.
