The variability of fiber-length parameters obtained from the Baer Sorter and the Digital Fibrograph has been estimated. It has been found that the two methods have the same order of variability. The need for considering Type II errors, while detecting small changes in fibei lengths, has been brought out. Readily usable tables for choosing the ccrrect sample size have been given.
