Abstract

A new instrument based on dielectric capacitance principle has been developed for the rapid evaluation of cotton fiber length. The instrument gives a frequency-length distribution of the type obtained by the comb sorter and also computes the familiar comb sorter length parameters on counters. The results of this instrument agree well with those of the comb sorter. The reproducibility of the results has been found to be good.
