Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop new preform structure and process mainly for composite industry. For this reason, multiaxis three-dimensional flat and circular woven preforms and methods were developed. The preform structures had five yarn sets as +/— bias, warp, filling and z-yarns for flat woven and +/— bias, axial, circumferential and radial yarns for circular woven. The weaving methods were introduced to form both structures. The experimental rigs were constructed for the trial of the methods. The important processing parameters related to preform unit cells and weaving were identified for full-scale process and product developments. The preliminary study showed that both types of weaving looked feasible under test conditions.
