Abstract
In this investigation, composite PP/PET covered yarns were spun using a rotor twister, to weave geogrids. Thermal bonding was employed to reinforce the mechanical properties of the geogrids. The results revealed that when the twist multiple of the composite covered yarn was 8.3, the strength and elongation were 323.7 N and 13.2%, respectively. The optimal heating temperature and time were 190 °C and 4 minutes, respectively, in this experiment, under which conditions the longitudinal strength was 46.4 kN/m; the transverse strength was 23.6 kN/m, the junction strength was 6.2 (kN/m), and the longitudinal elongation was 11.4 (%).
