In any future standard for continuous system simulation lan guages, it is of primary importance that the data and program structures are made sufficiently general and flexible. In this paper, the use of matrix structures in modeling and simulation, and the impact of matrix environments on the design of simulation languages and their experimental frames will be discussed.
