Abstract
The results of the investigation on reading strategies and extensive reading of EFL students indicate that reading a lot in both L1 and L2/FL becomes basically the most important factor for improving reading skills rather than just teaching reading strategies. Extensive reading gives learners a rich background knowledge, vocabulary recognition, a high motivation for more reading, and becomes the basic skill of rapid reading, discovery of reading strategies by learners themselves, and increases guessing ability in context.
