Abstract
This paper explores a transformative approach to language education through a project undertaken by middle school Spanish 1 students. By engaging with real-world contexts and producing materials that serve a genuine purpose within their community, students redefine the notion of ‘authentic resources’ in language education. The implications of this innovative practice extend beyond language education, pointing towards a future where learners are empowered to become active agents of change in their communities. This paper underscores the importance of experiential learning experiences that transcend the classroom and prioritize authenticity, community engagement and meaningful learning experiences.
