Anne Hyslop, the director of policy development at All4Ed, talks about the differences between ESSA and the previous federal education law, NCLB. Hyslop, who worked on regulations and guidance of ESSA implementation at the U.S. Department of Education, also discusses the implications of the recent NAEP scores and what may happen to ESSA accountability and school improvement plans in the post-pandemic world.
