This study examined the discriminant validity of the Inventory of Learning Processes by determining the relationships between the scale scores and the Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Reading Rate scores of the Nelson-Denny Reading Test. As expected, the Synthesis-Analysis scale was significantly correlated with Vocabulary and Comprehension (rs = .27, .37) and was not related to Reading Rate (r = .07).
