Abstract
A study was done to determine if there are more children with mixed cerebral dominance in a child guidance clinic sample than in a public school sample and whether, in the latter, more children with mixed dominance show evidence of personal maladjustment than do children without mixed dominance. There was a nonsignificant tendency for a higher incidence of mixed dominance to be present in the clinic sample than in the school sample. In one of the three school samples tested, the average number of problems the children admitted on a personality questionnaire was significantly larger for the children with mixed dominance than for those with unmixed dominance. It is suggested on the basis of the present study that mixed dominance may be related to problems of personal adjustment. Further study appears warranted.
