Judgments of Body Appearance by Fat and Skinny Male College Students 1

Abstract

Overweight, underweight, and normal Ss estimated their body appearance by selecting from a graded series of pictured physiques that one most nearly like their own. As compared to the normal group, overweight and underweight 5s were more inaccurate in judging their body appearance. There was a tendency for both deviant groups to overestimate their body size and shape.
