Pleiotropic effects on behavior of single gene mutations are widespread and can be used as tools for the classification of behavior according to the characteristics of the gene and its biological effects. An example of 14 mutations is given, maintained on C57BL/6J genotypes, that differ in their effects on negative geotaxis. Gene and metabolic commonalities may exist for mutants varying on this task.
