When two visual stimuli are separated by an interval of not more than 200 msec, the second stimulus delays the response to the first, primary stimulus. Reaction time was found to be lengthened (inhibited) in a curvilinear fashion; peak inhibition occurred when the second stimulus appeared 100 msec, after the onset of the primary stimulus. The results confirmed earlier work by others. A highly speculative model of the underlying process was suggested.
