Abstract
Driven by multiple factors, including technology, AI resurrection (or immortality) is moving from an edge experiment to a normalized tool for life narratives. From many practical cases, it can be seen that, in terms of mourning forms alone, AI resurrection (or digital immortality) is a self-deceptive psychological comfort that all relevant parties are aware of. However, cases related to AI resurrection (/immortality) are still increasing, and the industry related to AI resurrection (/immortality) is still growing more prosperous. Apart from the fourfold drivers of technological breakthroughs, social needs, psychological motivations, and commercial interests, the deeper root lies in the cognitive limitations of humans regarding self and reality. Perhaps ethical norms, legal regulations, and cultural guidance are needed to balance the application of technology, preventing it from being alienated from a healing tool into a digital prison.
