Abstract
The deceased was an unmarried, 29-year-old male accountant who had an unhappy childhood. He secretly purchased (online) a large helium cylinder of the type used to inflate party balloons pretending he was having a birthday celebration in his home. However, instead, he used the cylinder in a hotel bedroom to commit suicide leaving a hand-written suicide note and a Facebook post, indicating clear suicidal ideation. Analysis of the deceased’s browser history revealed that he had surfed the net on the properties and acquisition of helium gas, making it clear that this purchase was not an impulse buy.
