Abstract
We tried to investigate the existence of word boundaries between noun and adjective in the French language. Some acoustical features of these boundaries — fundamental frequency, duration and intensity — were investigated. It appeared that all three parameters could be considered as possible acoustical correlates of word boundaries. A perception test indicated, with certain restrictions, that the temporal structure of the speech material was the most important cue for the detection of the word boundaries involved.
