Public school teachers increasingly are faced with civil suits charging them with a failure to perform their duties adequately. Dunklee and Shoop argue that teacher preparation programs must include coursework in school law as a preventive measure to lessen the poten tial for teachers to become defendants in civil suits. Providing some legal train ing for prospective teachers is particu larly imperative in these times of educa tional reform.
