Abstract
Arends, Murphy and Christensen de scribe a long-range staff development project for teacher educators. Spon sored by the Maryland State Depart ment of Education and in cooperation with five higher education institutions, the project aimed at using research to improve teacher education. Over a two- year period, 28 higher education faculty participated in the project that included a series of research dissemination semi nars and two residential staff develop ment workshops. Significant questions pertaining to the staff development of teacher educators are raised in the paper and insights about the nature of teach ing teacher educators are provided.
