Shea and Henry compiled nationwide data to create a profile of the profes sional preparation patterns of personnel teaching social foundations of educa tion courses in American colleges and universities. The results of the survey provide documentation for the difficul ties facing foundations faculties and departments. The authors make three recommendations for improving the quality of social foundations program ming and instruction.
