Abstract
T. M. Stinnett, assistant executive secre tary for professional development and wel fare, National Education Association, has a bachelor of science degree, with a major in science and mathematics, from Hender son-Brown College, Arkadelphia, Arkansas; a master of science, with a major in educa tion administration, from the University of Arkansas; and a doctor of education from the University of Texas.
Mr. Stinnett has served as high school teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools in Arkansas. Later he became as sistant state commissioner of education and director of teacher education and certifica tion, Arkansas State Department of Educa tion. He was executive secretary of the National Commission on Teacher Educa tion and Professional Standards from 1951 to the time of his present appointment in 1959. He has contributed to various pro fessional journals in the field of education and is the author of a number of books. Four of the most recent are: The Education of Teachers: Conflict and Consensus (co- author); Teaching in American Schools (co- author) ; The Profession of Teaching; and Professional Problems of Teachers.
