Abstract
Morris Freedman, professor of English at the University of New Mexico, holds a bachelor of arts degree, with honors in English (Phi Beta Kappa), from City Col lege, New York; a master of arts and a Ph.D. in English and comparative litera ture from Columbia University.
Professor Freedman was an instructor and lecturer at City College, New York, from 1945-54. From 1955 to the present time, he has been assistant professor, asso ciate professor, and professor of English, University of New Mexico. From 1953-55, he was an editor of Commentary magazine.
He is the author of two books in which higher education is discussed at length: Con fessions of a Conformist (Norton, 1961) and Chaos in Our Colleges (McKay, 1963).
