Abstract
"There sits in every classroom one or more pupils who wait only for the signal to forge ahead...." Yet, "... the Portland Program [for Gifted Children] does not pro vide a special school for the gifted, nor does it enroll able students in full-time special classes...."
Mr. Williams describes here the Portland, Oregon, school system's in-service education for teachers who wish to improve their compe tence to serve the more able stu dents in their classes.
