Abstract
The editors of the JOURNAL re cently had the pleasure of reading "A New Course Is Born," an adapta tion of an address presented to the Third State of the University Con ference by Dr. Purks while he was provost and vice president of the University of North Carolina. His penetrating analysis of academic Planning is both stimulating and thought-provoking. With his per mission we are publishing it.
