In the June, 1950, issue of THE JOUR NAL OF TEACHER EDUCATION Mr. Haskew, Dean, College of Education, University of Texas, Austin, succinctly described some of the factors which influence the quality of teacher-education curricula. Here he presents a clear picture of the employing official's part, and shows how the one who chooses new teachers must share the responsibility, through discriminative em Ployment procedures, for continual im provement in the quality of preservice curricula. His proposed criteria are a challenge to employing officials in all phases of the educational system.
