Abstract
Florida ranks high among the states that have made significant progress in education during recent years. Always in the group of leaders at the center of the State's progress has been the author of this article. Recently retired as Profes sor of Education, College of Education, University of Florida, Dr. Mead has look ed back over the teeming years since 1933 and identified main fountainheads of leadership in Florida's educational ad vance. This convincing account reveals teacher education as the mainspring of the forward movement in Florida.
