Abstract
Of the many considerations that enter into the final decision as to what should be a company's model line, one of the more important is that of user needs and wants. In the main, research in this regard has focused on individual products. Research can be designed to provide a total model line picture based on user needs and wants. While there are considerable advantages to be gained thereby, a number of special methodological problems must be resolved in order for such research to provide usable information.
