Abstract
Editor's Comment:In this and the following several issues of the journal, a series of articles on the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of children with learning disabilities is presented. This series of articles is the result of the first Austin Invitational Research Symposium. This symposium was made possible by a grant from the Donald D. Hammill Foundation to this journal. The trustees of the Foundation and the staff of the journal would like to thank Joseph K. Torgesen. Dr. Torgesen has pulled together some of the most outstanding researchers in the field of learning disabilities on this topic. We are sure these papers will have a direct and positive effect on the advancement of this field. --
