A system for translating clinical information into automatic data processing language and format was developed for use in a comprehensive learning disabilities diagnostic clinic. The system, which consists of coding schedule and manual, provides for coding 139 separate pieces of information on two standard computer cards for easy and efficient manipulation by machine. This allows for many cross-sectional and longitudinal research studies as well as more consistent and efficient flow of information clinically. The present format can be modified readily to fit the requirements of other specific clinical or educational settings.
