Abstract
This paper describes informal methods for assessing children suspected of having a learning disability. Diagnostic techniques are described and a simple record-keeping matrix is presented. Information gained from these activities provides significant referral data as well as information to assist the teacher in individualizing instruction in the classroom. Pupil strengths and weaknesses are determined without the use of formal instruments. Normative data are included as a guide to aid teacher expectations.
